Jaden Braniff Interview…
Hi! 🙂
Please welcome the awesome Jaden Braniff to the blog today 🙂 We interviewed him 🙂 Check out the interview below, followed by some more stuff. Put the kettle on, bust out the chocolate biscuits and sit back and enjoy! 🙂
THE INTERVIEW
1. When did you know that you wanted to be a writer? Was there a single moment of clarity or did the knowledge just creep up on you?
A: I think it was when I started writing lyrics for a band I was in in Edmonton. I tried to create as much of a story as I could within the verses. It wasn’t until I came up with a concept for a script that my friend Troy Belcourt helped me piece together. It sparked a need for me to tell other tales but it was something that I never pursued in the way that I am now.
2. Tell us about your writing schedule. Do you write everyday? At the weekends? Or like me – whenever you get the chance?
A: It depends on how inspired I am. There have been times when I could type a word to save my life for weeks, even years and then there are times when I haven’t noticed that my wife has gone to bed. While I was writing “The Producer” she sort of lost me for a few months but she has always been very supportive. FYI, she loved the book.
3. What inspires you?
A: Simply put it is dreams that inspire me. Mine are very vivid and the more I try to remember and analyse them, the more ideas and concepts are born. As to my muse? She has her computer desk next to mine.
4. Where did you get the idea for The Producer – how was it born?
A: That’s a tough one. I lived in Victoria for quite some time and used to walk the city at all hours of the night. One night I was heading home from a band rehearsal and I saw the traffic lights flicker in an odd way. When my mind started to race about conspiracies and consumer control I had the opening scene written in my head by the time I got home. It did however take me twenty years to gain the courage to actually write the complete story.
5. If you could choose any book in the world to have written which one would it be and why?
A: “Backwards” by Rob Grant of the Red Dwarf series. Writing a comedic story is difficult enough, writing it in a backwards timeline would have been hell but he did it and it makes me laugh every time I read it.
6. If you could be any character from a book who would it be and why?
A: Ford Prefect from the Hitchhiker’s Guide because he’s been everywhere and he just so bloody relaxed.
7. What advice would you give to other writers out there who are thinking of self publishing their work?
A: Don’t get discouraged if you don’t become a massive hit overnight and network as much as you can with people around the world. Six degrees of separation and an honest soul can make the difference between a hobby and a career.
8.Okay some quick fire questions. Don’t think to hard just answer.
Super Villain or Super hero?
A: Super Hero – Spiderman (Like there’s any other)
Ice-cream or chocolate?
A: Cheating, chocolate ice-cream
Damsel or Dominatrix?
A: Neither, I’m a guy…So, Dom.
Underwear or commando?
A: Underwear. The DND makes great boxers
Beach or the Alps?
A: The beach.
Edward Cullen or Lestat?
A: Who’s Edward Cullen? So I guess, Lestat (He doesn’t sparkle in the sun like a little fairy princess)
Phew! Okay that was fun! Thanks, Jaden! 🙂
Okay, here’s some more about the man…

THE PRODUCER (THE REBELLION WRITINGS VOL 1)
BY JADEN BRANIFF
SYNOPSIS:
In the not so distant future the Government is Business. The populace is lulled into complacency by the use of subliminal videos. There is order and peace; drugs and disease are things only seen in History class. But in keeping with human nature, there are those who seek to abuse the system. Vid addicts rot their minds with hacked files and censors subdue those that seek to speak freely. Somewhere between these two worlds hovers The Producer.
Officers Jonathon Cook and Samantha Prescott of the Victoria Police Department find themselves caught in the midst of The Producer’s violent and dramatic game of cat and mouse. While they are forced to face ghosts of their past and their simmering attraction for each other, they must fight to save those they love from the Producer’s dangerous game.
Who is The Producer? What does he want? And can Jonathon and Samantha stop him before their world comes crashing down?
